We’re thrilled to announce that we have donated £250 to Home-Start Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre to fund Food Hygiene training for their incredible team of volunteers.
About Home-Start Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre
Home-Start Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre is a local charity that supports families with young children who are facing some of life’s toughest challenges — including financial hardship, isolation, low confidence, and the everyday difficulties of managing family life.
Their dedicated volunteers work in two key ways: through family groups, where they prepare and serve healthy snacks and refreshments and lead cooking demonstrations to help parents learn affordable, nutritious meals; and through home visits, where they provide one-to-one practical support, helping parents develop cooking skills, plan meals on a budget, and make healthier food choices for their families.
What Our Funding Will Provide
Our £250 donation will fund Level 1 and Level 2 Food Hygiene training for 15 volunteers across the charity:
– Level 2 Food Hygiene — for volunteers running family groups who prepare and handle food for parents and children
– Level 1 Food Hygiene — for home-visiting volunteers who support food-related activities in families’ homes
This training will ensure every volunteer has the knowledge and confidence to handle food safely, reduce risks, and deliver consistent, high-quality support to the families they serve.
The Impact
The ripple effect of this training goes far beyond a qualification certificate. By equipping volunteers with the skills to safely guide families around food preparation and nutrition, Home-Start BFW can help parents build lasting confidence in the kitchen — and ultimately give children in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre the best possible start in life.
We’re proud to support a charity doing such vital, hands-on work in our local community, and we look forward to seeing the difference this training makes.
